A Brief History of York Boys Tennis
The York High School Boys Tennis Team has won five state championships in its history. The last one coming in 2000. The previous four championships were under the legendary head coach/athletic director Ted Welch. Coach Welch put together a string of titles with great teams in the mid 1980s. The four championship was in 1990.
The 2000 Champs had an improbable run through the Western Maine Regional, defeating Falmouth and Cape Elizabeth teams that had defeated York in the regular season.
